Nice quotes
Here are some nice quotes I have fetched so far from here and there. Enjoy them. I will update this list periodically.
[1] “In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice; In practice, there is.”
Comment: There is a considerable difference between theory and practice. Some guys like myself go with “reality sucks”, and raise hands for ‘theory’. Some guys take the red pill, and enjoy the Matrix, where practice reigns.
[2] “First they came for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant. They they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me.” – Pastor Martin Niemoller, 1945, Germany
[3] Light travels faster than sound, which is why some people appear smart before you hear them speak.
[4] To know the road ahead, ask those coming back. – Chinese proverb
Comment: Unless you are not so arrogant to ask.
[5] “Vermutlich haben sie mit der terrestrischen venus so viel zu schaffen, dass sie die himmlische darüber vergessen.”
Comment: This quote was communicated to Carl Friedrich by one of his friends when Gauss concentrated so much on his wife that his works -that were used to appear incredibly often- began to appear rarely. Gauss is one of the most productive scientists ever. In this quote taken from a letter, his friend says Gauss, “I suppose you are so busy with the Venus on earth (referring to Gauss’ wife) that you forgot the heavenly one. (referring to mathematics, physics, astronomy)”
